NCSM held their JAM Party at their premises on 3rd August 2010 from 3-6pm.
Mr. Teh showed us his teh tarik skills to the guests which included survivors and friends. The Australian High Commission was represented by the Consul-General of Australia Ms. Majell Hind. The President and Vice-President of MANZA were also present. The cancer survivors presented a traditional Malay Dance and also Line Dancing. Traditional Malaysian food and Sabah Tea was served.

BCWA members and friends enjoyed an afternoon of fun, laughter and catching up during our recent JAM. Despite the rain, the highlights of the day at Khadijah's Kitchen went on as planned. The guests were also treated to a teh tarik performance by Encik Mior Sazali who literally bent backwards while performing one of his winning feats. Besides being entertained by comedians Monti and Logi as well as celebrity hosts Shamsunder Binwani and Astro's Antha, the highlight of the party was when singer Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim performed a medley of English and Malay songs.

The outdoor Jamuan of local delicacies on a rainy Malaysian afternoon brought back sweet memories of yesteryears' kenduri under a tent. There were also lucky draws, auction, charity sales and games. An auction was carried out where guests competed to part with their money for the auctioned items. One of the guests was the lucky grand prize winner who bagged a ticket to Guangzhuo, China. BCWA thanks all entertainers who had very kindly offered their professional services for free.

Encouraged by the good response I had for my first JAM party in the previous year, I held a JAM party again on 16th August 2010. Despite being busy with their work, my postgraduate students and colleagues managed to spare some time to attend this party with good cause. The room was decorated with colourful balloons and the green Mr Teh JAM banner. I talked about breast cancer and taught them how to do breast self examination. Pamphlets on how to do breast self examination were distributed. My guests enjoyed the curry puffs, pulut kuning and pizza with the tea sponsored by Sabah Tea. They were kind enough to donate to our good cause and I managed to collect RM400 which will be used to conduct public education on breast cancer awareness. I look forward to this year JAM, maybe with a fun theme such as “Alice in Wonderland"!
