The Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) and the National Cancer Sociey Malaysia (NCSM) jointly organise an annual fundraising event "Jamuan Teh Malaysia" modelled after the Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, to raise awareness and much needed funds for these two groups who diligently serve our Malaysia community in raising community awareness on early detection and prevention of cancer.
The fact is today, 1 in 4 Malaysians have a lifetime risk of developing cancer. By the year 2020 it will be 1 in 3 if no action is taken. This means every family will have at least one member suffering from cancer - be it your parent, spouse, sibling or child.
What is Jamuan Teh Malaysia? It is where Malaysians and expatriates togather can support BCWA and NCSM by hosting or attending a Jamuan Teh Malaysia event to raise funds. All donations and sale proceeds will be divided equally between BCWA and NCSM.
Where can a host hold their Jamuan Teh Malaysia event?
- Workplaces - part of a team meeting or simply enjoy a break together.
- Homes - invite family, friends and neighbours to join in.
- Communities - sporting, leisure and community groups can get together!
- Schools - recess can be a little different for students, teachers and their families
It's a simple concept. Once a host registers, a Host Kit will be assembled for you. The host will promote their event and invite guests and ask people to leave a donation. We have Jamuan Teh Malaysia keepsake items which will be on sale to the host/s and participants. These will be ordered in advance by hosts for purchase by their invited guests.
A Host Kit will contains:
- Sabah Tea teabags, balloons, posters, stickers, donation boxes, details of where to send donations; and promotional material from BCWA and NCSM.
